Chicken roping is an annual animal abuse event that is held in Dewey's Place Bar in Moorcroft, Wyoming every year. The 9th annual event just occurred. The town of Moorcroft and the Crook County chamber of commerce both support the event since it brings in revenue to their delightful town. There was recently a bill almost passed by the governor of Wyoming to legalize chicken roping and hold the event in bars across the state.
Adults and children under 18 attend the chicken roping event which occurs inside Dewey's Place Bar and Grill. Everyone cheers on as different "cowboys" torture helpless chickens by roping them around their neck and legs, laughing when they flail about while petrified in fear. They will also pull the bird up by the rope tied around their neck. It often causes them to suffocate and die. The cowboys laugh.
