Bloomfield, NJ – Introducing Dali Dali is a 26-year-old Blue-Crowned Conure, suspected to be a male. They think he’s male as he’s 26 years old and has never laid an egg before. He spent almost all of his life in a cage. The family that adopted him had him for a long time (about 20 years), but never took the time to hold him, so he doesn’t like hands. He doesn’t mind humans and not aggressive. He loves attention and conversation. He likes being sung to and his favorite song is Rockin’ Robin.
“Occasionally, I’ll get brave and venture out of my cage, but I'm not really good at flying because I don't have much experience. I'll step up onto your clothed arm when I'm done exploring, but I really don't like hands and fingers (unless they are holding a treat). I like grapes, apples, bananas, and raw peanuts. I am not aggressive, but if I’m not in the mood to interact, I might lunge. I'm ok with dogs and other animals because there were always other animals around me my entire life. I'm hoping to find a nice family that likes music, has other friendly animals, knows what I need, and will take it slow with me. I'm just an old man looking for a safe place to retire.”
He is not hand-tame, but he will climb right up onto your shoulder when he’s out of his cage. He just does not want to be touched or held; everything has to be on his terms.
